Low self esteem is perhaps an unavoidable part of those battling weight issues. Most of you dealing with constant ridicule for your inexplicable weight gain are probably ruling out chances of joining a gym or controlling your dietary intake in the near future— possibly thinking that nothing is going to help. The 31-year Den Ray Allen has a very different story to share. She had been an obese and had managed to knock off 185 pounds by successfully combating unhealthy eating habits and social derision for her excess weight.
Allen has slipped to a svelte 220 pound frame from around a 430 pound one and needless to mention, her road to fitness has not been without its fair share of difficulties. It is these difficulties which make her weight loss story such an inspiring one. Read on to find out more weight loss story.
Den Ray Allen said that she was faced with weight issues right from the time she was a girl of 10. She, in fact, goes on to admit that her estimated “before-weight” was something around 430— she does not know what she weighed exactly simply because she was not interested to know how much she weighed until she hit the 400 pound mark. Not that she would live in this state of denial for long—if she had, she wouldn’t have achieved what she has done today.
Quite interestingly, Allen did not exactly lead a sedentary lifestyle to start with. She was into regular sports like wrestling and track. In fact, she used to turn to these physical activities when weight piled on. However, she had completely resigned from sports by the time she was in high school and things worsened as her mother wasn’t around to monitor her diet. What followed was a prolonged period of overeating triggered by personal distress.
Like most of the obese individuals out there, even Allen was bombarded with weight loss requests and advice from all quarters—her parents leading the way. She, of course, did not take to these suggestions kindly but started blaming herself for her unhealthy way of life.
In the meantime she refused to even buy clothes as even the plus sized women’s garments in the stores failed to accommodate her.
Allen’s Resolve which helped her getting back in to shape
Even in the midst of all these forms of denials, Allen determined to walk a mile at least thrice a week with her neighbor—she had started taking her baby steps towards achieving a leaner frame. She had started seeing improvements and wanted to know how she could continue improving.
She got in a better shape just by “watching” what she ate and monitoring her caloric intake with the help of an app called MyFitnessPal. She has gone to say that she had managed to get rid of a whopping 141 pounds with the help of the app.
The road beyond is harder…
Yes—because she has plateaued at present but she is duly determined to knock off 30 more pounds to reach her “weight” target set by her doctor. She has sought help from weight loss center of assistance and has even stuck to a strict diet consisting of no more than 1200 to 1500 calories! In between, a series of injections and a few pills had only acted as a source of pain and irritation for her.
At present, she is strictly concentrating on weight training and a well-monitored dietary intake in a bid to reach her goal. Allen, presently weighing 220 pounds can’t stop gushing about the contribution of healthy diet in her life. She definitely doesn’t recommend poor eating as that leaves you without energy.
